The first position derived from scriptures finds that angels embodied two states of form: (1) a physical body and (2) an eternal spiritual condition (immortality). Adam and Eve were initially created like the angels with both these attributes, but after they sinned, they lost their eternal spiritual condition– they became mortal.
Salvation means we “take on” this lost spiritual condition by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Human beings were created in God’s image but can now choose to be raised “above the angels” by our free choice to accept God’s provision of grace.
We will become the “bride of Christ” in heaven and not wed (or be married) when in heaven. However, this does not mean we have lost our physical bodies. The scriptures confirm that we will be resurrected into a new, incorruptible spiritual body. The resurrection is physical.
The Bible makes the incredible claim that fallen angels were sent to earth with Satan when he was expelled from heaven, reproduced with human women, and their offspring were called “The Nephilim.” This race was “the men of renown,” perhaps part of some of the echos of much Greek mythology of part man and part god “super-humans.” Even giants. (I know it sounds nuts, but see the Chuck Missler video at the bottom for much more.) But it is logical to see why God caused the global flood: to eliminate this bloodline, which was an abomination. Arguably, the Nephilim were devised by Satan to contaminate the pure bloodlines needed to bring The Messiah Jesus to the world.
In this day and age, the concept of angels reproducing with human women sounds very strange. It is so weird that many reasoned that this interpretation should be rejected outright. However, the Bible makes many miraculous (supernatural) claims—we are left to believe or reject them.
When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Bible translations changed interpetations
Consider how much we have compromised the Bible. When the Bible was translated in 300 BC by The Septuagint (70 Rabbis -Bible scholars) from Hebrew into Greek, not one of them doubted (1) a six literal day creation, (2) a global flood, or (3) dragons (dinosaurs coexisting with humans) are in the Bible with over 17 removals, (4) a literal Adam & Eve, and (5) The Nephilim were the offspring of fallen angels and human women.
Today, such truths have been reinterpreted, rationalized, called analogy, or reworded to fit into a worldview called Naturalism. A conviction that God did not create and first life swam out of a deep sea vent on abiotic early earth after emerging from a self-creating “Big Bang” universe some 13.8 billion years ago. Talk about tall tales!
