FOSSILIZED ROSES!

Roses are rapidly fossilized in the Czech Republic as an example of permineralization that does not take even a single year to accomplish. These stone roses are among many rapidly formed fossils which are created in the present.

The vibrant life of the Karlovy Vary of the Czech Republic is the home of hot springs which transform heated mineral water (temperature of more than 163 °F) to rapidly petrify materials in only a few weeks. The energy of these hot springs permeates the entire city and spouts up to a height of 36 feet in places. Merchants create “petrified rose” souvenirs for tourists.
