Miller Urey

An experiment completed in the 1950’s by biochemists Stanley Miller and Harold Urey which attempted to reconstruct what they imagined an “early earth” atmosphere would be with the primary design to render amino acids ironically by random spontaneous chance.  The premise of the experiment was to show that amino acids could be used to explain the first chemicals toward the emergence of life.  While chemical structures of amino acids were produced by the experiment, and amino acids are non-living, a closer look reveals that the results should have been expected. With the predetermined environment and experimental apparatus the results chemically should have occurred and provide no insight into the prebiotic emergence of life.
