« Back to Glossary Index

NATURAL SELECTION is the process by which heritable traits are passed by reproduction and the more advantageous allele forms become more common in a population over time. This term is interchangeable with reproduction. The idea that beneficial mutations are involved with Natural Selection are isolated as a different matter on this website. Evolution requires both Natural Selection plus certain germline mutations to postulate the morphology of life.
