While there are a few theories on the origin of viruses, today there is still no scientific concurrence. However, there are three primary thoughts: (1) Escape (2) Broken Genetics (3) Viruses as the Origin of Life.1
This examination only uses science and data.
Viruses emerged by Broken Genetics and then Escape.
We find that RNA, such as the genetic information found inside the corona-virus (which causes the disease Covid-19 in humans) emerged by massive damages caused to likely useful structures in the native organism. These Broken Genetics later crossed species or Escaped and became viruses. Rarely, these defective viruses infected other species. These infections are particularly dangerous when the two species, such as two mammals, which do not share a common living environment, complicates infection and potential severity.
Spontaneous Random Mutations are degradative
Contrary to the narrative of evolution regarding mutations, science has revealed that mutations are far from being beneficial to any living organism. Each mutation after conception works to further weaken and degrade preexisting genetic material. 2 Effectively deleting, replacing, duplicating or substituting new code randomly over once fully functioning code. These random spontaneous mutations are called somatic mutations.
Somatic mutations fail macro evolution
Somatic mutations have never been shown to be beneficial without genetic costs. These mutations are at best silent (neutral) but most often, about 67% of the time, are degradative. 3 Hitting the genetic code negatively. These hits cause sickness, cancers, and diseases. Somatic mutations have never added genetic information that would build legs on a fish so it might become a frog. This may be how Darwinian evolution is believed to work but it is not how genetics work.
Viruses: broken protein capsules of genetic material
Genetics which were perhaps helpful in one species becomes broken– losing genetic function and most function seen in common living cells. These Broken Genetic Capsules, now mutated and seriously disabled, perhaps are sickening to the native species in which they emerged.
Most viruses are harmless
It is important to note that there are millions of known viruses, most of which are harmless, neutral, or even helpful. Many viruses are required for survival. In exceedingly rare cases, these Broken Genetic capsules (viruses) become transmittable to another species or they Escape. Such transmissions can cause sicknesses among the same species but can become lethal when transmitted to another species. As an example the bird flu emerged when a bird virus transmitted to humans. Then this virus became transmittable from human to human. Likewise, the swine flu came from sickened pigs 4, and recently Covid-19 presumably from a bat virus. 5
How did Corona-Virus (Covid-19) emerge with only RNA?
To figure out how the RNA found in Corona-virus (or any virus with compromised genetics such as damaged single strand DNA or RNA) originally emerged we need to begin with known genetic processes of living things. Under observable genetic function the manner of all reproduction of living things occurs as DNA makes RNA.6It has never been observed where RNA makes DNA. Therefore, the RNA present in The Corona-virus that cause the Covid-19 infection emerged when DNA degraded by damaged genetics to only contain RNA.
Only DNA synthesizes RNA
RNA is ONLY produced by preexisting DNA function (outside evolutionary conjecture). Therefore, RNA comes only from once fully functional and beneficial DNA living material. RNA does not make DNA– DNA provides the genetic material to synthesize RNA– not the other way around. 6
Therefore, based on science and leaving out origin of life conjecture, RNA can only be a remnant of a once fully functioning DNA.
We have found that viruses emerged when badly damaged cells became mere protein capsules, stripped of most all cellular function.7 The Covid-19 infection, like the many deadly viruses of history, emerged when Broken Genetics Escaped to a different species. The Covid-19 virus exists today with only its remnant RNA– a stripped version of its original materials.
Lastly, viruses have no scientific pathway as the origin of life. They cannot self-assemble apart from DNA information. Without ATP (also assembled by DNA) required for energy chances become even thinner. Genetics has revealed that outside preexisting DNA information there is no other cause for the origin and the persistence of life and this includes any virus.
